Vicki Lynn Theobald

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

Vicki Lynn Theobald (Docken) was born on August 9, 1948 to Roland and Donna Docken (Norem).

She died peacefully at home October 20, 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Vicki graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966, where she was a cheerleader and excelled in school at the 15 percentile of her class. After high school she started her working career with Bankers Life, which became the Principal Financial Group. Later she went to work at Regions Bank in Indianola, until her retirement there.

In March of 1971 Vicki met Gary, who would quickly become her partner, her best friend and her husband. Vicki and Gary were inseparable, doing everything together. They were married 50 years. They loved fishing and watching their Hawkeye football and basketball teams together and she especially loved baseball and the Chicago Cubs.

Vicki was simply a wonderful mother and friend to her children Stephanie and Christopher and grandchildren Madilyn and Ellis, and she was very open about how much they meant to her. She was proud of her family, and she loved every moment with them. They knew each and every day how much they meant to her. And just like her husband, Vicki loved animals dearly. Vicki had a special affinity for cats, and she spent much of her life with one on her lap, just like her mother.

Survivors include her daughter Stephanie Theobald of Des Moines, IA; her son Christopher Theobald (Moriah) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Madilyn, Ellis and a new baby boy to be born in December; sister Cindy Ghalibaf (Amir) of Colleyville, TX; Larry Docken (Sandy) of Norwalk, IA; Karan Sloan (Max) of Ankeny, IA; Dolly Kragel (Gary) of Sloan, IA; Myra Sattler (Tom) of Herndon, KS; Karla Struble (Mark) of Hornick, IA: and many nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her husband Gary; mother and father, Roland and Donna Docken; brother Lonnie Docken; mother and father-in-law Vernetta and Herbert Theobald; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Renea McCoy and Terry Theobald; and granddaughter Ruby Mae.

A memorial for Vicki will be Saturday November 5, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Chapel at 10:30am with a luncheon to immediately follow at 12pm.

She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens next to her beloved husband Gary.

The Theobald family would like to give a special thank you to UnityPoint Hospice for their generous care and support. Memorial contributions directed to the family and in lieu of flowers.
