Shirley Evelyn Taylor 92, of Des Moines passed away December 25, 2021
surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born to Howard and Ethel (Brown) Daniels on July 22, 1929. She
graduated from Liberty Center High School. Shirley married Robert (Hoppy)
Hartney and had 4 children: Thomas, John, Mary and Susan. She married Calvin
(Jack) Taylor and had 1 child: David (Kelly).
Shirley retired from Mid Central Plastics as a supervisor. Shirley and Jack worked
for Lanter Courier across Iowa and Missouri. She also helped at the Food Pantry.
While being married to Hoppy, they were very active in farming, animals and
saddle clubs. While being married to Jack, they loved to go fishing and boating
with various family members and friends to Canada, Minnesota and Iowa. Shirley
really enjoyed playing card games, dice games, dominos, as well as word search
puzzles. She loved to watch Pro Basketball and NFL Football. She also watched
ice skating competitions.
Left to honor her memory are: her children and (10) grandchildren: Dana,
Thomas-John (TJ), Shay, Leanne, Stacey, Samuel, Timothy, Shateau, Kian and
Michael. As well as her sister Beverly Meulemans, brother- in - law, Bill Murphy,
her beloved (15) great grandchildren.
Preceding her death are her parents Howard and Ethel Daniels. Her sisters
Marjorie (Daniels) Berkenbosch, Audrey (Daniels) McKeever, Norma (Daniels)
Murphy, Phylis (Daniels) McDaniel. Hoppy Hartney and Jack Taylor.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for July 23, 2022 (location to be determined)
cremations to be buried at Sunset Memorial on August 1, 2022. If you have any
