Michelle “Shelley” Suzanne (Boyd) Parsons, 69, of West Des Moines, IA passed away with family by her side on April 8, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Shelley was born on December 4, 1953, in Des Moines to Bob and Virginia Boyd. Shelley was a 1972 graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines and a 1976 graduate of Drake University.
Shelley proudly dedicated her life and found the most joy in raising her two children, Kyle and Julianne. She also adored spoiling and spending time with her two grandchildren, Makenna, and Colin. Her family and friends will remember Shelley’s love for dancing, music and her compassion and care for all animals.
Shelley is survived by her loving children Kyle (Jessica) Parsons and Julianne Parsons; sister, Kristy Cass; former husband, Jeff Parsons; nieces, Kimberly (Mike) Steenhoek and Robin (Joe) Cox; two grandchildren, Makenna and Colin Parsons; and her four great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Virginia Boyd, and stepfather, Robert West.
Shelley’s family would like to thank UnityPoint Younker Rehabilitation Center, Independence Village, Waukee and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion during her final days.
Please join us in celebrating her life Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Visitation from 12-2pm with the Funeral Service directly following at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gigi's Playhouse Des Moines or Furry Friends Refuge Des Moines in honor of Shelley's life.
