Robin Renee (Rankin) Higgins, 65 years of age, was born December 25, 1960, to Jim and Karen Rankin in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on March 9, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia.
Her memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel in Des Moines Iowa, 7601 Fleur Drive. Visitation will be held from 10am - 12pm on March 28th and her service will start at 12pm. Her burial will be directly afterwards with a luncheon following.
Robin graduated from Hoover High School. She married Walter (Bill) Higgins in 1985, and they enjoyed many years together. She was a busy mom to her son Dustin and daughters Tina, Amy, Toni, and Amber. Robin was a hard worker. Over the years she worked at Principal, Clark Lift, Doors Inc., and Hy-Vee Corporate. She made friends wherever she went and work was no exception. During her recent battle with lung cancer, her Hy-Vee family were very supportive as she completed six weeks of treatment.
Robin enjoyed many pastimes such as Cozy mystery books, computer games, jigsaw puzzles, woodcrafts with her husband Bill, and painting. She loved being with family and friends and going to concerts and to craft shows with her mom. Being “Grandma Robin” was one of her favorite things and she enjoyed going to so many of her grandchildren’s concerts, recitals, sporting events, birthday parties, and graduations. She loved a good meal, especially when it ended with a yummy dessert. Spending summer days on Lake Ponderosa was one of her favorite ways to relax and of course cheering on her Steelers.
Robin always spoke her mind but was quick to laugh. She loved Christmas and found great joy in giving gifts and also getting them. She was sensitive, sentimental, loyal, and loving.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Higgins, father Jim Rankin, daughters Toni and Tina Higgins, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Rankin.
She will be dearly missed by her son Dustin (Jessica) Rankin, daughters Amber Higgins (Rex Bullard) and Amy Berg; grandchildren Karis, Ava, Gabrielle, Lincoln, Weston, Cody, Jo Lynn, Madalynn, and Micaiah; mother Karen Rankin; stepmother Linda Rankin; sister Jennifer (David) King; aunt Linda (John) Malloy; and many other family members and friends.
