Ralph Renda, age 80, peacefully passed away September 2nd at Via Health Services in Carlisle, IA with family at his side.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7th from 4-7pm, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 8th at 10:30 am at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Ralph was born to Albert and Mary Renda in Des Moines, IA. He attended St. Anthony’s School and Dowling High School before enlisting in the Navy where he spent 2 years. Ralph enjoyed his upbringing in his south side Italian neighborhood where all his numerous cousins and friends were like close family. He worked various jobs in Des Moines before his retirement from Polk County. He was an avid (daily) golfer and enjoyed going to horse races. His Catholic faith was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife Pat of 44 years; his sister, Joyce Paletta; and half-siblings, Pat Renda and Kathy Kinning. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, a sister, Jeannie Renda, nephew Greg Harris and great niece Jessica Dale.
