Phillip R. Elliott, 85, went to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 11, at the VA Hospice in Des Moines. He was born in Iowa City in 1936 to Kenneth and Lucille Elliott. Phil was a veteran of the US Army and retired from US West in 1998. He married Diane Urban in 1962 and they raised two sons. Phil was an attendee of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. His interests included motorcycling, gardening, home improvement, auto racing and reading.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Diane; two sons Phillip Jr. “Sonny” Elliott; Douglas Elliott (Karla); granddaughter Jennifer Elliott; brothers David Elliott (Jeanette); and Max Elliott (Karol).
Service will be held Monday, May 16 at Sunset Memorial Chapel (7601 Fleur Dr.) at 2pm with visitation held an hour prior to. Phillip will be laid to rest following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
