Milo Oliver


Milo “Tudy” Oliver, 93, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2022. Milo was born May 12, 1929, to Joseph and Jennie (Tonelli) Oliver. Milo attended Abraham Lincoln High School, then went on to serve his country both during World War II as a United States Marine and during the Korean War with the United States Army. He met the love of his life, Marcella Adeline Biondi and together they built a lifetime of excitement and happiness. Milo had a successful career for 40 years as a pressman and lithographer for Meredith Publishing in Des Moines and represented the Local 86 of Printing Pressman and Assistants Union as union president. After retirement, Milo focused on his expanding family, spending time with and being a life advisor to his children and grandchildren, as well as finding time to tend his legendary garden each year.

Left to cherish Milo’s lifetime legacy and memories are his wife Marcella, their daughters Amber Johnston and Gina (Alan) Guzman; sister Beverly Boshart; grandchildren Nicholas (Abigail) Johnston, Marco (Billie) Johnston, Alexis (Jamey) Pierce, Joseph Guzman, Anthony (Bridget) Montgomery, Michael Montgomery; and great grandchildren Matthew, Olivia and Adeline Johnston by Marco, Jett Pierce by Alexis, Stella, Violet and Scarlett Montgomery by Anthony. Milo is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christine Montgomery and siblings Arthur Oliver and Mary Nizzi.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 15th at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service. Milo will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
