Mary Alice Hutson, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully, at the age of 93 on Friday, April 14, 2023. Mary was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 10, 1929 to the late Fern Lily Thompson and married the love of her life Edward William Hutson, who predeceased her on February 1, 2006. Mary was blessed with a sister, Shirley (Fields) who predeceased her, and a brother, Jack Larson. Mary was a wonderful mother who is survived by her four loving children: James (Jerry), Edward William Jr., (Bill), Karen (Thompson) and Fern (McGuire). She was also the beloved grandmother of nine grandchildren: Sherry (Leksell), Mary, Theresa (Pallwitz), David, Timothy, Mark (Thompson), Drew (Thompson), Keeley (Freed) and Ryan (McGuire) and eighteen (18) wonderful and amazing great grandchildren.
Mary loved the church, loved spending time with her family and making quilts for them, and loved telling, and reading, stories to her great grandchildren. She was always active, made friends easily, loved animals, doing puzzles, reading books, and catching up with friends and family on long phone conversations. She especially loved making cookies and always had some ready for when the family came to visit her.
The family requests that friends and family members make donations to their favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
A visitation will be held beginning at 11:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa followed by the funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023.
