Mark William Tiedens, 70, passed away December 7, 2021, in Ankeny. Mark was born October 17, 1951, in Des Moines, IA to parents Nanno William “Bill” and Carmi Ruth (Custard) Tiedens. He graduated from the Des Moines Technical High School and made his forever home in the Des Moines area working as an auto mechanic for 35 years at Toyota of Des Moines.
Mark loved spending time building model ships, which he took great pride in. He enjoyed spending family time with his two sons Michael and Matthew Tiedens; which grew into a much larger family to include grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Ruth Tiedens; sibling Melanie (Duane) Bower, children Michael (Stephenie) Tiedens, Matthew (Carroll Nelson) Tiedens; grandchildren Kaine Lindberg, Grace Lindberg, Alexander Tiedens, Autumn Tiedens, Meredith Tiedens, and Maddox Tiedens; niece Kathy Bassman, and nephew Dan (Tina) Bower.
Mark was preceded in death by his father and Army veteran Nanno “Bill” Tiedens of Des Moines, IA in 2004. Mark’s paternal grandparents were Mattheus R. and Octkje Gertie (Pannkuk) Tiedens and his maternal grandparents were William Arizona and Myrtle Agnes (Alvey) Custard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EveryStep Hospice in Des Moines or Perry, IA.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Chapel December 10, 2021 from 9am to 11am. Following the visitation will be the interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
