Marilyn Jane Roth was born to Harold M. Stroud and Marion A (Blood) Stroud on March 13th, 1932, in Des Moines Iowa. She went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 2nd, 2026, surrounded by her family at home.
On October 24th, 1952, she was married to Richard Ira Roth. God blessed this union with 3 daughters Margaret (Peggy), Carol, Linda and one son Thomas.
Following graduation from Lincoln High School in January 1950 she worked at Equitable Life for a few years. As the children got older, she worked mom’s hours at JCPenney in downtown Des Moines. When Dick passed away in 1974, she went to the American Institute of Business to brush up on her secretarial skills. She worked for Attorney Tom Flynn until retirement in 2000. After retirement she served as a volunteer at Methodist Hospital for several more years.
Marilyn responded to the Gospel at a young age. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She trusted the Lord through many difficult days. She lived and often quoted Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me and I will answer thee. And show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
She is survived by her children Margaret (Blair) Conley, Carol Clark, Linda (Paul) Gilpin, Thomas (Marilyn Jr) Roth, 10 grandchildren: Andrea, Anita and Brian Conley, Andrew and Joel Clark, Stephanie Hoch, Aaron, Tyler, Isaiah Roth and Hannah Larson, along with 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, son-in-law Dale Clark, brother in laws and sister in laws John and Doris Roth, Dick and Sally Mayer.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.
