Marilyn Joan Cross, 88, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023, at Mercy One Hospital after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 9th at the Sunset Memorial Chapel beginning at 2pm.
She was a homemaker and seamstress most of her life and had held positions outside the home as a bookkeeper and as a salesclerk for Montgomery Wards after raising four boys. She was born January 4, 1935, in Greenfield, IA and graduated from Greenfield High School, Class of 1953. She married Richard I. Cross in 1954, her lifelong partner who preceded her in death in 2012.
She was also proceeded in death by her parents Harold and Florence Bitcon and a brother Russell Bitcon.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Deena) Cross, Harold Cross, Philip (Mehee) Cross, Tracy (Michelle) Cross. Ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. And a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Bitcon of Jacksonville, Fl.
