Margaret Kelly

Margaret Kelly was born on June 25, 1958, to Richard and Carma Tetley at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She passed away on August 31, 2026, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Chapel (7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321), with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Margaret grew up alongside her brother, Michael Tetley. Her family moved to Des Moines in the 1960s, where Margaret made her home and built a life centered around family, hard work, and the people she loved. She graduated from Dowling High School in 1976.

Margaret worked at Decatur County Hospital before welcoming her two wonderful children, Bobbi and Chris. She later began a long career with the Des Moines Register, where she worked for many years before retiring in 2017.

Above all, Margaret treasured her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and the time she shared with those closest to her was especially meaningful.

Margaret is survived by her son, Chris (Jessica) Kelly; daughter, Bobbi (Dustin Halma) Kemble; grandchildren, Londyn Kemble, Jaden Lilly, Aiden Kelly, Gabriel Kelly and Jonah Garvey; and brother, Michael (Pennie) Tetley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Carma Tetley.

Margaret's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for the compassionate care provided to Margaret.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Myositis Foundation in Margaret's memory.
