Marcella "Marcy" Oliver

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

Marcella “Marcy” Adeline Oliver left to reunite with the love of her life and eldest daughter on August 29, 2023. Marcella was born August 28, 1934, to Edward and Mary Ann (Scartozzi) Biondi. She lived in Des Moines and Madrid growing up and attended St. Anthony’s and East High School.

Marcy met the love of her life Milo after he returned from the Korean War, and together they built a lifetime of excitement and happiness, creating a family and home, raising their three daughters, and travelling. When grandchildren started arriving, she supported and loved them like her own children, earning the beloved nickname of “BB Glam’ma”. Marcy never stopped learning and building her relationship to God through the Catholic Church, taking catechism certification classes, mentoring her grandchildren through childhood, Confirmation, and adulthood while always reminding herself and others to “say your prayers”.

Marcy had an unparalleled style and vibrant personality, and never had a shortage of life lessons and stories to share with her friends and family. Everything from interactions with celebrities she knew on a first name basis, to her life journeys and mistakes. She was unforgettable to those with whom she crossed paths, even in her final days.

Left to cherish her life and memories forever are daughters Amber Johnston and Gina (Alan) Guzman; grandchildren Nicholas (Abigail) Johnston, Marco (Billie) Johnston, Alexis (Jamey) Pierce, Joseph Guzman, Anthony (Bridget) Montgomery, Michael Montgomery; and great grandchildren Matthew, Olivia and Adeline Johnston by Marco, Jett Pierce by Alexis, Stella, Scarlett and Violet Montgomery by Anthony.

Marcella is proceeded in death by her parents (1992 and 1993), husband Milo (2022), oldest daughter Christine Montgomery (2022) and baby brother Ronald Biondi Sr. (2020). A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 5th, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive in Des Moines, at 10:30 am with visitation one hour prior to service. Marcella will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens next to Milo and her parents.

Rest easy at home with Papa. We’ll love you always and forever- in this life and the next.
