Lynda Ann Deeds, age 76, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to J.H. and Veronica Deeds and spent her early years in Des Moines, Iowa. Lynda attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School, where she formed close friendships and enjoyed many mischievous adventures with her girlfriends. She graduated from Lincoln High School, proudly becoming a Lincoln High Alumna.
Lynda dedicated 35 years to her career as a postal carrier with the Pleasant Hill Post Office in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, where she made lasting impressions on her colleagues and the community before retiring. In her free time, she loved cooking, fishing, camping, and curling up with a good book.
She is survived by her children, starting with her most favorite, Malynda Rumbaugh, 52, of Des Moines, Iowa; William J. Rumbaugh, 51, and his wife Christina Rumbaugh of Des Moines, Iowa; and Chad M. Rumbaugh, 50, of Omaha, Nebraska. Her grandchildren: Tazsmine Robinson, Le’Anthonie Robinson, Nichole Mason, Jowlene Mason, Tyler Rumbaugh, Jeffery Rumbaugh, Chelsea Daniels, Brendon Armstrong, Donavon Mallory, and Jason Schlampp; along with 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother James Deeds and his wife Lori Deeds of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister Bernie Mcleod (Deeds) of Gadsden, Alabama, and her nephews Josh Deeds, Joey Bishop, and Nate Easley of Des Moines, Iowa.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents J.H. and Veronica Deeds, her son Dale Rumbaugh, and her sisters Loretta Easley and Jayme Cox (Deeds).
A Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Chapel (7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321) on January 2nd at 5PM – 7PM. Funeral services will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel (7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321) on January 3rd at 10AM. There will be a luncheon following the funeral service. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and share memories.
Lynda’s warmth, spirit, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
