Linda Jo Curry, 71, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Methodist Hospital on September 17th, 2024. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23rd from 5 to 7 pm, and a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, the 24th at 1 pm, both at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr in Des Moines. The burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Linda was born on January 11th, 1953, in Des Moines to Harry and JoAnn Hunter and grew up in Runnels. She attended SE Polk High School and graduated in 1971. Linda went on to work numerous jobs including being a laborer at Stone Container. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crafts, going to church and meeting new people. She never knew a stranger. Linda was always known for her heart and care for others above herself.
But more than anything, Linda was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being with her family whether it was just a quick; hi, I love you, a 2-hour long Walmart trip or a holiday. Not only did Linda love without limits, but she was loved by so many around her.
Linda is survived by her son, Andrew (Melissa) VanWey; her daughter, Erin Nefzger; grandchildren, Madison, Meadeau, Hailey, Isaiah, Tori, Autumn, Damon, and Kayden; great-granddaughter, Maelynn; and siblings, Sam Hunter, Tim Hunter, Jill (Kevin) Thompson, Keith (Teri) Hunter, and Jennifer (Craig) Berg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and JoAnn Hunter; her daughter Heidi VanWey; her grandsons, Grant Spieker and Cory Elifritz; and her sister, Judy Osborn.
