Larry Wignall

Larry Wignall was born in January 1936 in Des Moines, IA, and passed from this Earth on December 3, 2025, at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill after a prolonged illness.

Larry was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  A family man and good friend that would never shy away from helping anyone that needed it at the drop of a hat.  Larry was a jack of all trades and master of none, but a skilled craftsman, nonetheless.  He helped build homes for his parents, his son and himself, all of which still stand and are in-use to this day.  He was just as well known for his skills as an auto body repairman, bringing a brilliance and beauty back to vehicles.  Birdhouses, cornhole boards, bookshelves, simple furniture, and the list goes on and on of things he could make in his workshop.

Larry is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Steve, and brother David.  He also has two granddaughters, Shon and Loryn, and a great granddaughter, Evolett, to carry on his loving and supportive ways.  He is preceded in death by parents Maxine and Roy, sisters Gloria, Joyce and JoAnn, and brothers Dwayne and Bill.

A visitation will be held Thursday December 11 from 1-3pm at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive in Des Moines.  In lieu of flowers a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be preferred.
