Kathryn Marie Woods, 85, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2022 at the Taylor House. A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Kathryn lived each day to its fullest. She loved to shop for her family and creating memories for every holiday as holidays were always a special time filled with laughter and love. What warmed her heart the most was having family and friends gather in her backyard to enjoy in the swimming pool and time together creating lasting memories.
Kathryn was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Claude and Sylvia Foreman. As teenagers, Kathryn and her husband Jack Edward Woods met at the Lincoln Theatre on Southwest 9th Street in Des Moines. Their favorite song was “Because of You”. The two were married on September 8, 1954.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Raymond, her husband Jack and her niece Jill Thornton. Left to cherish her loving memory are her daughters; Deb (Gary) Dickey and Shelley (Kurt) Brugioni; son Jack Woods III; brother Bob Foreman; sister in law Deb Cabelka; brother in law Ron Woods; sister in law Judy (Carl) Crees; sister in law Janice Woods; grandchildren Amy (Jay) Lundeen, Gary (Shannon) Dickey Jr., Jonathan Brugioni, Kaylee Brugioni, Jade Woods; and 4 great grandchildren, Jay J Lundeen, Cassidy Dickey, Jack Lundeen and Trip Dickey.
The Woods family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the Taylor House for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor House.
