Joyce Puls, 91, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 5 to 7pm, and a celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, the 25th at 11 am. Both at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr in Des Moines. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Joyce worked for several years at Bankers Life. Joyce was a devoted member of Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd for nearly 60 years and has donated her famous German chocolate cake to the Autism Society of Iowa for many years. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, embroidery, needle point, sewing, playing cards, and putting puzzles together.
Joyce was married in 1951 to James D. Puls. Together, they raised nine wonderful and strong children. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was always putting her family first. Much of her life was spent raising her children and doting on her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was survived by 8 children and their spouses; Randy (Deb), Gary (Lora), Tony (Marcy), Sheila, Sandy (Lee), Lori, Jodi, Brad (Michelle); her 13 grandchildren, Jim, Trisha, Jessica, Matt, Brianne, Adam, Megan, Tim, Ashley, Daniel, Kaylee, Cierra, and Quinn; her 12 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Scarlett, Lily, Ezra, Finn, Jaxon, Everlee, Mallory, David, Joshua, Anthony, Lee, and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James and daughter Judy, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Autism Society of Iowa an organization Joyce was passionate about.
Joyce’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for God, her family and friends will deeply miss her. She has touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.
