Johnny Reeves

Johnny Reeves, 65, passed away on August 22, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.


Johnny was born to John and Lore (Ernst) Reeves on June 20, 1957, in Nuremberg, Germany. Due to his father being stationed in the Army, Johnny was able to travel Europe during his childhood. After John left the Army, he relocated his family back to his hometown of Winterset, Iowa. Johnny attended Winterset High School and obtained a GED through the Army. Johnny met the love of his life, Diania, through “scooping the loop” in Des Moines. They started dating in 1975, and were married the next year in Belton, Texas while he was stationed in the Army. Johnny started working for the United States Post Office in 1983 and worked there for over thirty-seven years. In his free time, Johnny loved to ride motorcycles, work on cars, make model cars, bikes, and trucks, and woodworking. He was a hard worker who was an excellent provider to his family. Johnny will be remembered for his love of music, especially Pink Floyd, Dean Martin, and The Beatles, reading science and history books, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Johnny is preceded in death by his mother, Lore Reeves, and father, John Edward Reeves.


Johnny is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diania Reeves; children, Billie (Lyle) Veach, Jennifer (Bill) Lore Dorf, Johnny (Cheryl) Ray Reeves, Brandy (John) May McMillan, and Amanda (Corey) May Vandenhemel; grandchildren, Jesse, Devon, and Cody, Adam, Christopher, and Michael, Jonathan, Sebastian, Lydia, and Lizzi, Presley and Johnny, and Xander and Zoey; great-grandchildren, Jameson and Rose; sisters, Robin Benedict and Dawn Mittelstadt; and his beloved furbaby, a white cat named Mr. Beans.
