Jerry David Adams, 71, of Newton, passed on Tuesday, June 20th in his home surrounded by his family, to reunite with his late wife Cindi.
Jerry was born on May 21st, 1952 in Des Moines to the late Donald and Bernice Adams. He was the 11th child of 14, six preceded him in death. Jerry graduated in 1971 from Collins Community School. Shortly after high school Jerry joined the Army serving as a military policeman at a base in Georgia. He was a devoted employee of John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny, Iowa for 35 years where he received many accolades for his contributions through the years.
Jerry enjoyed fishing and camping with his grandsons, following and watching high school and college sports, particularly football, collecting rare coins, and spending some time at the casino. He also loved to be outdoors tending to his garden and his yard. Jerry was a hard working, loving and caring father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin.
Jerry is survived by his five children, Jerry (Courtney) Adams of Erie, Colorado, Sean (Katie) Adams of Newton, Ben (Heather) Adams of Newton, Sarah (Bobby) Fehring of Ames, Holly (James) Freese of Kellogg as well as 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
On Monday, June 26th there will be a funeral at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Chapel with a time of visitation an hour prior to at 10:00am. Following the funeral, Jerry will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family invites all to join back in the chapel for a luncheon and to further commemorate Jerry's life.
