Jeffrey Cole Pender was born on December 27, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ralph and Zora (Pieart) Pender. He passed away peacefully in hospice care in Waterloo, Iowa, on May 20, 2026.

Jeff grew up in Saint Charles, Iowa, and graduated from Interstate 35 Schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy after being drafted during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Over the years, Jeff lived in St. Charles, Iowa; Phoenix, Arizona; St. Marys, Iowa; and later Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he made his home beginning in 2001. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Jeff is survived by his son, Adam Pender (Keri); grandchildren, Bailey Pender, Brooklyn Pender, Devin Eaton, and Caleb Eaton; nephews, Jeffrey Sales (Laura) and Daniel Sales (Erin); and great-nephews, Ellery and Jude.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Zora Pender, and his sister, Rebecca Sales.

A private service with military honors will be held.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

Jeff will be remembered as a quiet and independent man whose life touched those who knew and loved him. His service to his country and the memories he leaves behind will not be forgotten. He is now at peace.
