James H. Hall, 89, passed away on February 22, 2023. James was born on June 4, 1933 to his parents James and Hazel (Smith) Hall in Des Moines, Iowa.
James worked at HE Sorenson for 30 years as a foreman then 15 years at Iowa State Fairgrounds for maintenance. James was a Korean Veteran in the United States Army. Jeanette and James married on July 22, 1956, they cherished 61 years together just a month shy of 62 before her passing.
He loved to fish, lawncare and to garden. He was a member of Fort Des Moines Open Bible Church for many years and drove the bus. Such a giving man, he would give Mary rides to work every day when she needed it. He would give guidance to others even if they weren’t blood related.
Survived by his daughter, Mary Raymond and her children Charles Jr., Chad (Angie), Bobby (Shauna), Tawnya, Louie; daughter Betty (Robert) Trimble and their children Rick Trimble (Alison), Doug Trimble (Brooke), Brittney Gross (Alex), Jonathan Trimble; son Mark Hall; sister Darlene Heefner; brother William Hall; 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, parents, brother Kelmer Hall, sister Larene Gilbert, and sister Shirley Hudnell.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines. Burial with Army Military Honors will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens after the services.
