Glee Ann Anderson, aged 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7th, 2024. She was born on October 5th, 1946, in Leon, Iowa to Madelyn and Clifford Smith.
Glee Ann graduated from Leon High School in 1964. After her kids were born, she worked for the Checkerboard Pizza Shack in Pleasantville, Iowa. Later, after moving to Des Moines, she started work at Kent Packaging and eventually she retired from Des Moines Water Works in 2008. She loved to crochet, making lots of hats and scarfs, table runners, etc. She also enjoyed collecting cookie jars where she amassed almost 40. Wintering in Donna, Texas with her loving husband Lee, she loved to help her adopted family in Mexico by providing them with toys and other essentials. She also enjoyed dancing at the music jams and playing poke-no and bingo. While home in Altoona, she loved spending time with her granddaughter Emily. They would visit all the local garage sales where she would send Emily home with lots of “treasures”.
Glee Ann was extremely organized, very active and loved life.
Glee Ann is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Leland “Lee” Anderson; her children, Kenneth Waddle of Altoona, IA, Daniel (Rachel) Waddle of Des Moines, IA; four step-sons, Todd (Emily) Anderson of Mason City, IA, Troy Anderson of Germany, Al Nesbitt of Seattle, WA, John (Laura) Salmi of Hudson, WI; siblings, Patricia Turley of Warrior, AL, Dennis Smith of Watsonville, CA; grandchildren, Emily Waddle, Brock Knapp, Ella and Gavin Anderson; and several other grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Madelyn and Clifford Smith, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday April 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior at 10:00 am. Burial to follow funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Radiant Church in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
