Evelyn ‘Eve’ Brookhart died on Saturday December 12, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. She fought a valiant fight against lung cancer and end stage renal disease – she was an extremely determined woman. She kept a positive attitude and wanted to continue to enjoy life and the people in it for as long as she could.
She was born January 5, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa to Yvetta Oliver and Francis Bennett. She was raised by her grandmother, Pearl Lange.
She is survived by her 3 children; Deb Brookhart (Karen Ross) of Windsor Heights, IA, Bill (Karen) Brookhart of Van Meter, IA and Kelly Prokupek of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel and Rachel Brookhart, and Drew, Chailey and Mandy Prokupek. 3 brothers; Jim, Bill and Kirby and 2 sisters; Pauline and Penny and many extended family members.

Eve retired from Unity Point Billing Center in Johnston, Iowa in 2016 after 14 years of service – she loved her job and the people she worked with. She was proud to be a member of the Unity Point family and throughout her illnesses insisted on using Unity Point offices and providers whenever possible.
She loved spending time with family, she looked forward to annual family reunions in different parts of the Midwest. She would have loved to travel more after her retirement, but health issues consistently prevailed. She loved Native American collectibles and proudly displayed them in her home. She also loved M&M collectibles, which made birthdays and holidays that much easier.
During the pandemic we began having Sunday dinners with family members and friends – she looked forward to those dinners and was sad when not everyone was in attendance. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her 2 new grand-dogs, Bailey and Bentley and she couldn’t wait for Sunday to come.
Please make any memorial contributions to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa – she loved animals, especially dogs.
