Doris Darlene Newman

Doris Darlene Newman entered into eternal life on September 24th 2022.

Doris was born July 12th, 1931 to Walter and Mabel Houseman.

She lived her entire life on the south side of Des Moines.

On September 18,1953 Doris married Ralph Newman. To this marriage three sons were born: Robert, Randy and Kevin.

Doris was educated in the Des Moines Schools and after school she worked several jobs from bank teller to store clerk, but the job she loved the most was being a childcare provider. Most of her entire life was dedicated to watching children well into her seventies.

Beyond being a childcare provider Doris loved spending time at her lake home.

She and Ralph built their vacation home and spent countless hours there relaxing, socializing and entertaining with their neighbors and enjoying the serenity of the lake.

Doris was a doting grandmother who cared for all of her grandchildren from infancy to school age and beyond. She and Ralph never missed time spending with their grandchildren and loved going to many of the events that the kids were involved in.

With 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren this would keep Doris and Ralph busy at times trying to spend time with all of them. There was a lot of times they would take grandkids to the lake for weeks at a time or maybe just a weekend Doris enjoyed all the time she could spend with them.
