David Russell Jones, 74, died on July 29, 2026, at his home in Des Moines Iowa surrounded by his daughters.
He was born on July 27th, 1952, to Ival Jones (Russ) and Katherine Bailey (Kay).
Dave grew up on the east side of Des Moines and graduated from East High School in 1970.
After graduation, Dave set out to fulfill his dream and bought his first horse. In 1978, He bought farmland, in southern Warren County, where he resided for 42 years and continued his love of horses.
Dave was employed by L&L Insulation for over 20 years, and he ended his career at the National Asbestos Union, where he was a heat and frost insulator.
He has survived by his daughters, Anna Smith, Hope Seibert (Tony) his grandchildren, Jacob Jones (Aissa) Emilee Silverio (Jeris) Sydnee Starrett (Josh), Lauren Savage, Alex Smith, Zack Smith and Austin Savage. Five great grandsons, Cooper, Judah Abel, Oliver and Asher. His brothers Kevin Bailey, Brian Jones, Darrell Jones and his stepmother, Donna Jones Dave is proceeded in death by his parents, Russ Jones, Kay Bailey and his brother, Mike Jones.
Dave was cremated and his ashes will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Fluer Drive, in Des Moines. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions can be made in his name to the American Quarter Horse Association.
