David “Roger” Moore, 86, was born December 9, 1939, in Yale, Iowa, and passed away March 2, 2026, at Fleur Heights Long Term Care Home in Des Moines, Iowa.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services honoring Roger’s life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where full Military Rites will be conducted in recognition of his service to his country.

Roger grew up in Jamaica, Iowa, where he attended school in a small class of just seven students. Early in his career, he worked for Look Magazine, where he met the love of his life, Janice. The two were married for 47 wonderful years and built a life centered around family and shared memories.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving until 1965. After his military service, he began a long career with the United States Postal Service, working as a mail clerk for 38 years until his retirement.

Roger found joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family, tending to his garden—especially growing raspberries and vegetables—and traveling. One of his most cherished memories was a 14-day family trip to Europe in 1992.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kevin Moore and Brian (Sherry) Moore; grandchildren, Gabriel Moore, Gavin Moore, Lexis Moore, and Zach Moore; brother, Larry (Julie) Moore; and nephews Jeff Moore, Brad Moore, and Mike Moore.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Moore; his parents, Jesse and Beulah Moore; his brother, Ron Moore; nephew, Billy Moore; and many aunts and uncles.
