It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, David Price Hartline, who left this world on May 4, 2026, at the age of 18.
David was born on May 16, 2007, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Derek and Jennifer Hartline. From the moment he arrived, David carried with him an infectious smile, a strong and unforgettable personality, and a warmth that drew people in. His humor, his love for his family, and even his signature love for Chapstick became part of the joy he brought into every room.
Every person David met was left with an everlasting impression. He taught those around him the true meaning of unconditional love, compassion, and selflessness. His happiness radiated outward—bright, genuine, and impossible to ignore.
David attended Westwood Elementary, Prairie Ridge, and Northview. He proudly played Miracle League baseball, where his enthusiasm and spirit shone brightly.
But David’s greatest joys were the simple, shared moments with the people he loved. He cherished playing games of UNO, Connect Four, and Kerplunk, going bowling, and creating crafts with paint, stickers, and stencils. He loved watching movies, camping, fishing, reading books, building with Legos, playing practical jokes, going for walks, and showing off his drumming skills. These moments—full of laughter, curiosity, and connection—were where David’s heart lived.
David was preceded in death by his Aunt Heather Carnahan.
He is survived by his parents, Derek and Jennifer Hartline; his brother, Derek; his sister, Kathryn; his grandparents, Richard and Dianna Carnahan; his uncle Richard (Tawyna) Carnahan; and his cousins, Kelsey and Brayden. Their love for him is immeasurable, and his memory will remain a guiding light in their lives.
Though David’s time here was far too short, the love he gave and the joy he shared will live on endlessly in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a reminder to laugh often, love fully, and cherish every moment together. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
