Barbara Marchant 87, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
Barbara Jean Anderson was born on April 6, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa; she was the daughter of Major and Julia((Murphy) Anderson. She attended school in the Des Moines Catholic Schools and then attended Beauty School. Barbara was united in marriage to John “Jack” Marchant Jr, in Des Moines and they remained in Des Moines and raised their family. She worked in Home Health Care and several Nursing Homes. She enjoyed bowling, living on the farm, and in her earlier years she loved to drive a car in the Powder Puff races.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debra (Jim) Parker of Martensdale, Robert Marchant, John Marchant III and Pennie (Jerry) Beener all of Des Moines. 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In death Barbara rejoins her parents, Major and Julia Anderson , husband, Jack and 6 siblings.
