Alice Marie Johnson, 68, earned her wings and flew to live with Jesus January 12, 2022. Alice was born on August 10,1953 in Des Moines Iowa, to parents Charles and Florence O’Connor, with Mildred later taking on the motherly role in Alice’s life. She grew up with a house full of siblings, 13 in total, where there was never a dull moment. She graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines in 1970. Those who knew Alice knew that she loved to take risks and had an artistic side. She worked at Des Moines Asphalt for over 15 years from which she has since retired from.
She beamed with pride over her 3 children and 6 grandkids and made sure to let anyone who was willing to listen, know about them. She also spent cherished years with her husband Jose Murillo Garcia (Lupe). The time that she was able to spend with her grandkids was something she held close to her heart, she loved each, and every one of them. Another true love that Alice had were the dogs that were part of the family, past and present. She always made sure to have little gifts and treats and even ask about her "little babies" when she would call. At times, her kids wondered if she favored her four-legged family over those with just two.
Left to cherish and hold her memory are her husband Jose (Lupe) Murillo Garcia; daughter Tiffany (Chad) Pastour; son Bruce (Allison) Johnson; daughter Mandy (Jason) Shepherd; Grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Allen, Kayla Shepherd, Kelsey Shepherd, Jenna Pastour, Wyatt Pastour, and Jadyn Johnson; Great Grandchildren Brayden May, Sam Allen, and Paislee Allen; fur baby Lilly, and siblings: Chris Rich, Donnie O’Connor, Lori Biagioli, Tanna Freel, and Teresa Hesseltine, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by her father Charles O’Connor, mother Florence Matthews, mother Mildred O’Connor, siblings: Danny O’Connor, Charles “Butch” O’Connor, Jim O’Connor, Marlene O’Connor, Sylvia Jones-Nunez, Terry Rew, Billy Slater and Bobby Slater, fur baby Cassie, and granddogs Willy, Mac, and Sophie.
There will be a Memorial Gathering at Sunset Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to honor Alice’s life.
